PROMOTIONS IN POKER ROOMS

ABSTRACT

A method of providing a high value prize to a single winner among a multiple of fixed bonus winning players in a poker room is provided. In addition to the fixed bonus payout provided hourly to the player with the highest hand in a poker room in each hourly session, winners of N consecutive hourly sessions are provided with the option to compete against each other whereas the winner of that competition wins an extra bonus prize which could amount up to tens of thousands of dollars. The competition is done by randomly spinning a big wheel with R sections, each section bears a prize value, or by randomly shake X regular dice, whereas the outcome of the N spins or N rolls defines the winner of the competition and the prize won whereas the other N-1 fixed bonus winners win the fixed bonus only.

BACKGROUND

Low-stakes poker players in casinos love promotions, which allow them, if luck is on their side, to take home a lot more money than they could expect to win through straight poker in using their own skill.

Perhaps the most common promotion is a high-hand bonus. Typically if you have four of a kind or a straight flush or royal flush, you win some cash. The amount is usually fixed, in the range of $100 to $1000, and paid to the highest hand winner during a session of typically one hour. Obviously, these players will be much more attracted to go to poker rooms if they have the potential to win an additional large prize of tens of thousand dollars due to their luck rather than to their skill.

This adventure provides these high hand bonus winners to compete against each other and potentially win a much higher prize. The competition is done by randomly spinning a big wheel with R sections, each section bears a prize value, or by randomly shake X regular dice, whereas the outcome of the N spins or N rolls defines the winner of the extra bonus prize and the prize won whereas the other N-1 fixed bonus winners win the fixed bonus only.

This competition can be further extended by having a second competition (say done weekly) among R first competition winners to potentially win a bigger prize.

Please note that in order to hold such competition with a high stake and high prizes, the wheel or the dice shaker must be electrically/electronically automated spun or shaken to avoid outcome manipulation and to obtain random results.

TOTALUP will provide the automated wheels and automated dice shakers.

Tables 1A, 1B and 1C provide the outcome of a random spin of an automated 52 sections big wheel with a maximum prize of $10,000, $20,000 and $50,000 respectively. As can be seen from these tables, the average cost to the casino per hour, if the competition is held every 3 sessions, with a fixed bonus of $100, is $231.41, $367.31 and $703.97 respectively.

Tables 2A and 2B provide the outcome of a random roll of 3 regular dice in an automated dice shaker with a maximum prize of $10,000 and $20,000 respectively. As can be seen from these tables, the average cost to the casino per hour, if the competition is held every 3 sessions, with a fixed bonus of $100, is $358.3 and $650 respectively.

Table 2A’ provides the outcome of a random roll of 3 regular dice in an automated dice shaker with payouts of $100.00 to a maximum prize of $10,000, pending on the outcome of the dice (rated as less than a pair, a pair, series or triples). As can be seen from the table, the average cost to the casino per hour, if the competition is held every 2 or 3 sessions, with a fixed bonus of $100, is $575 and $450 respectively.

Table 3A provides the outcome of a random roll of 4 regular dice in an automated dice shaker with a maximum payout prize of $60,000, with different payouts on rated series and quads. This is intended to be used in the weekly competition, when the seven days winners of the daily’s competitions participate with a nominal fee of say $100. As can be seen from the table, the average cost to the casino per event, providing a prize to 1, 3 or 10 winners  is $334.50, $1003.50 and $3345.00 respectively.
